Answers to the Questions you asked!

How did you get your friends to come to church?

I handed them some invite cards to cool events, mainly. When I attended youth group I liked the activities and hanging out with people first. I came to know Christ better later as I went to church more. So I knew that my friends would probably be drawn in the same way.

What's the best way to witness?

In order to change their world, you have to get into their world. in order to witness you have to get to know the person, know what they deal with, and you don't learn what they deal with without first having a genuine relationship with them.  Next...Live your everyday according to what you say and believe. If you don't think profanity is a godly thing to do, then don't do it.  If you don't think drinking is a good choice then don't do it. Your friends will SEE this in your life and either take note that you live differently or ask you about it. Either way you're being a witness. There are times to talk to people about Jesus. When they question your beliefs for instance or they talk about what they believe about God. It's good to say what you believe and talk with people about it.

Is it ok to have friends that aren't Christians?

Yes! Jesus hung out with the prostitutes, the tax collectors, the poor, the blind, the drunks, the “ungodly”.  If you don't have non Christian friends, then you are doing something wrong. How will people hear the gospel if you're telling them it while they aren't your friends. You have to get into their world.  However, it would be unwise to surround yourself with only non Christian friends. You should have friends who are planted in Christ, so they can speak life into you and you can do the same for them. It would also be wise if Christian friends are your "core" friends because then you are being influenced by people who are following Christ.

How do you deal with temptations at school (sex, drugs/alcohol, gossip, cussing, etc.)?

Constantly fill yourself with verses from the Bible that can help you overcome temptations. Memorize 1 Cor. 10:13 (“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man…”) Post them on in the inside or your locker, your car dash, your notebooks. Make sure to spend as much time with some Christian buds that will encourage you and challenge you in Christ as you do with other non-Christian friends. It's all about balance. And do a lot of praying. Pray the armor over yourself as much as you need to. (Eph. 6:10-18)

How can I keep my relationship with God fresh during the routine of school?

Heck yes you can!  School can definitely be a distraction from God. My best advice would be to start off the day well, talk to God!  Make Him a part of everything you do. Talk to Him all throughout the day, even about the little things. When you start worrying or getting frustrated talk to God, even if it is just in your thoughts, He still hears you. He is always there, we just have to acknowledge Him. You don’t have to wait until you're alone to talk to Him do it continually.

What should I do if my friend at school confides in me about a major problem?
(i.e. eating disorder, depression, suicide, cutting)

This is a perfect opportunity for you to tell them that that's not the only option they have. You can share about how Jesus has helped you thru really tough times. Give an example from your own life b/c that makes Jesus more real to them. It's important that they know other people go thru tough times too. Most likely they are only thinking of themselves and their own issues at that point. If you feel comfortable and they do as well then pray for them.

What happens if people don't accept me?

When the world rejects us, they are rejecting the very creation of God. When God created you, He said it is VERY GOOD. Ephesians 2:10 says you are HIS masterpiece. You are created in the image of God. In the image of the creator of Heaven and earth. Psalms 139:13-15 says that God knit you together in your mother’s womb. That you are fearfully and wonderfully made. That He watched as you were woven together . He knit together ever delicate inner part of you. You are exactly like you are suppose to be. Never let anyone tell you any different and NEVER let someone else dictate who you should or should not be. You are a masterpiece!

What if my parents aren't Christian?

The Bible says to obey your parents. So, keeping that in mind you may not agree with all that they say or do, but your right heart and attitude (i.e. not talking back, doing your chores and homework) will gain their trust and they'll see how you're living your life. Trust in God. Also, while you do need to attend your church regularly (or find one if you don't), your parents may not agree to this so there are always other possibilities. You can read and pray at home. Call up your Christian buddies on the phone and talk! Lots of youth groups have fun events outside of church services where people just get together and have fun. You can tell your parents about these fun events and tell them you really want to go. Last but not least, don't forget to pray for your parents as well.
